In 2010, the European Investment Fund and Imprimatur Capital signed agreement for the first seed and start-up capital fund in Latvia creation that will specialize in technological projects, attracting private capital for the JEREMIE initiative in very complicated venture capital market conditions. 

In a celebratory ceremony in Pastende, district of Talsi, in June 2010, the Latvian subsidiary of the reputed Netherlands company "Brabantia", manufacturer of household metal goods, embedded a capsule containing a message to future generations into the foundations of the new factory. With immuring of the capsule, Pastende becomes the 5^th place in the world where “Brabantia” factory is opened. Now the factory produces one ironing board every minute, every week 7-8 trucks deliver the productions to the warehouses in Central Europe and England.  

In 2010, the European Investment Fund signed contracts with SEB Bank and Swedbank, where SEB bank will grant loans in the total amount of 60 million Euros and Swedbank 44 million Euros to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs (SME) in Latvia. The banks will administer the established EIF loan product, designed to promote SME lending in a given period of time within the activities of JEREMIE (JIF). 

With the signing of the contract in 2010, venture capital investor BaltCap becomes one of the first in Europe to be managed by a venture capital fund of the JEREMIE initiative administered by the European Investment Fund, as well as the first and only venture capital fund manager in the Baltics to attract private investors and to start operations during the economic crisis.

In 2009, Riga hosted the first international conference "Going to the North Hub Riga" (in light of Riga becoming the northern gate of aviation). The seminar discussed topical global tendencies in the aviation industry, changes in passenger flow, EU and regional aviation cooperation, legislative news, airport construction and management, as well as the Riga airport development. The conference was attended by airline, aircraft manufacturing and government representatives, as well as a large number of international media.
